In March 2011, Phil Mickelson along with his former coach and current agent, Steve Loy, reopened McDowell Mountain Golf Club (formerly the Sanctuary Golf Course) The course underwent a hundred day renovation that included widening the fairways, softening the contours, adding length to the back tees and shortening the forward tees. The course will now challenge the low handicappers while being more friendly for the beginning golfer.
New for 2013, a rebuilt clubhouse and patio that will overlook the valley and provide stunning sunsets for events, causal dining and a 19th hole cocktail.
The new clubhouse facility will take the existing clubhouse from 8,000 square feet to over 12,000 square feet. Additional clubhouse features include a large covered outdoor dining terrace, indoor/outdoor bar, upgraded restroom facilities, new locker rooms and enclosure of the existing event space. The materials are all native and in keeping with not only the McDowell Mountain Ranch neighborhood, but also the desert environs of Scottsdale. One of the most dramatic features of this new clubhouse facility will be how the new facility will take full advantage of the spectacular vistas towards the West and the dramatic views of Scottsdale and the Valley of Sun.
All clubhouse renovations will be completed over the next few months and will be unveiled in January of 2013.

All of his life, Brian has been around the game of golf. As a youngster, Brian competed at all levels in junior and high school golf. Brian had a zero chance for a college golf scholarship, so he worked on the grounds crew at West Bend Country Club to pay for his University of Wisconsin education. In his adult years, his passion for the game collided with his entrepreneurial spirit and in 2004 launched GolfWisconsin.com. In 2007, the idea for a network of local golf directory sites formed and GolfTrips.com was born. Today, the network consists of a site in all 50 states supported by national sites like GolfTrips.com, GolfGuide.com and GolfPackages.com. It is an understatement to say, Brian is passionate about promoting golf and golf travel on a local, regional, national and international level.
On the golf course, Brian is known as a fierce weekend warrior that fluctuates between a 5-9 handicap. With a soft fade, known as "The Weis Slice", and booming 300+ drives, he can blast it out of bounds with the best of them.
