A Favorite Within the West Valley
Just a stone’s throw from both Peoria and Sun City, Coyote Lakes Golf Club in Surprise is one of the most fun courses you can play. But “fun” can also be deceiving: Coyote Lakes is compact, it’s scary, and if you’re not careful it may leave you struggling to break ninety while eating a sleeve or two of your best golf balls. So if you come here, be ready.
Golfers who can control their shots off the tee and around the bunkers only have to worry about Coyote Lakes’ quick and contoured greens during the high season. And some lower handicap players think since the course plays 6,213 yards that they’ll shoot a 74. However, when Arthur Snyder and Forrest Richardson collaborated on the course layout in 1993, they embraced the property’s natural terrain rather than using tons of fill dirt to flatten the fairways. The result is a course filled with undulating fairways that reward meticulous shot management while punishing the grip it and rip it mentality.
In two consecutive yearly editions of Golf Digest, Coyote Lakes received a 4-star rating on GD’s Best Places to Play list. Yet the course is still quite affordable, welcoming both locals/regulars one-time visitors every day. In addition to the golf course, which often plays in just 3.5 hours - if you and the people in front keep your ball in the fairway - our Coyote Café serves both golfers and the public with a menu people love and a team that is happy to see you. In fact, everyone here will be.
