Scottsdale, Ariz. (January 28, 2021) - Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club, a new semi-private club in Surprise, Ariz., will open for limited public preview play beginning on Thursday, February 11th. The 18-hole Nicklaus Design golf course is the first new golf course to open to public play in Arizona since 2016.
Set against the backdrop of the majestic White Tank Mountains, the Sterling Grove golf course showcases features from the golden age of golf architecture, providing golfers with a very playable and enjoyable round. As the course matures, more than 1,700 trees will grow to line fairways and further define the routing. Wide landing areas greet golfers off the tee, while undulating greens will challenge even the best putters.
During the spring preview, while clubhouse and on-course amenities are being completed, green fees will be $89 per person, with public tee time reservations accepted 30 days in advance. Tee times can be made online at www.sterlinggroveclub.com or by phone at 623-213-7000. A food truck will be available at the clubhouse site for food and non-alcoholic beverage purchases. The Club expects to have its liquor license in place by the end of March. Until then, alcoholic beverages will not be sold on property.
Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club will ultimately become an exclusive private club reserved for members and their guests. For a limited time as the Sterling Grove community builds out, the club will be open to daily-fee and unaccompanied non-member play.
"We are excited to finally unveil the new Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club to the public," said Ryan Stemsrud, general manager, Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club. "This is not your traditional Arizona golf experience; it has a very distinct look and feel."
The social center of the Sterling Grove community will be the club area. Nine pickleball courts, five tennis courts, bocce courts, and men's and women's locker rooms will open in stages through late summer/early fall. Inside the clubhouse, the Flora Spa, state-of-the-art fitness studio and movement studio, a full-service restaurant called Copper & Rye, and The Market (for grab-and-go food plus general convenience items) will open this summer/early fall. Three resort-style pools will also open later this year, with Bob's Bar, located near the sixth green, a place where golfers can stop for mid-round refreshments.
Sterling Grove Golf & Country Club is managed by Troon and is the centerpiece of the 780-acre Sterling Grove Toll Brothers luxury lifestyle community. The staff-gated, luxury resort community will encompass 2,200 homes and includes both all-ages and active adult neighborhoods. Incorporating design and architecture from some of Arizona's most iconic neighborhoods, the community will include trails, parks, fishing, community gardens, pet friendly parks, and many new and innovative community amenities.
In partnership with Toll Brothers and Nicklaus Design, Troon is fully-engaged with all facets of the new club from design and development, agronomy, food and beverage, to sales and marketing and merchandising.
